AFRIKANA
But a son of a land
A child from a rich home
Soaked in rich culture
How am I suppose to know this when my fathers have refused to tell me
Why should I hear this from a stranger
A total stranger!!!
Someone with no link to us
I feel betrayed that they kept this from me
From gold to bauxite
Diamond to crude
Shots have been taken from the beautiful scenes of our shores
History doesn’t lie
But can be distorted
No hard feelings but my brothers and I think our fathers shouldn’t have inherited all this wealth
Losing my mind
Stuck with my thoughts
Anger running through my veins
Aftermath of dependence has left our minds in space
Identity crisis, we just can’t be in our lane
We keep trying but our efforts are in vain
I’m patiently waiting for the day we will actually use our brains
In achieving great things
Believing the unknown
For the records,
We are own enemies
Fighting each other for what belongs to us
Confusion making us aimless
If this is a dream, then someone should wake me up
The facts are stated
In actual sense we can achieve these heights in the world to come
No one is willing to sacrifice
From the top down to the last man
Everyone is unconcerned
Playing in the blame league
I wonder who’s going to win
I keep wondering why we gamble with the future of our land
‘Oh we’ve done this and done that’
Boss where edey ???
Evidence is the name of the game
I will keep writing until my pen floats
And oh tell us the secrets to your wealth
There’s something up there
I once asked a man
“Sir, how did you make it”
Thinking i have gotten a role model to guide me
To put me on the right path
He said “I used to sell pure water until that fateful day when God sent His angel”
Chairman this isn’t what I need
Show me what you did
I also want to be rich
Want to be great
I have dreams of being celebrated
Let me take a deep breath
I will be back….
